ACFE: Transformative Learning
Transformative learning occurs when learners encounter new ideas, perspectives or experiences that challenge their existing assumptions and understanding. This process encourages critical reflection, helping learners reconsider their beliefs, attitudes and practices considering new information.
Description
In Learn Local settings, transformative learning can occur when participants engage with diverse perspectives, explore complex social issues and reflect on how these issues relate to their own experiences and communities. Through discussion, questioning and guided reflection, learners examine the limitations of their current views, develop new ways of understanding, and consider how these insights may influence their actions and relationships. As learners apply this new understanding in their daily lives, workplaces or communities, meaningful changes in thinking and practice can occur.
