Description
Part A: Mon, 2 Sept. 9:30am – 11:30am | Part B: Mon, 9 Sept. 9:30am – 11:30am (attendance is required at both parts of this multi-part program).
The 2019 Ministerial Statement on the Future of Adult Community Education in Victoria 2020-25 calls for the Learn Local sector to support vulnerable adult learners in all settings to develop needed language, literacy numeracy and employability skills including digital skills. Through the VET Development Centre (VDC), the Victorian Skills Authority (VSA) funded “Teaching Vulnerable Learners - Journey to Success”- Professional Leaning series to improve the capability and understanding of Learn Local teaching and learning staff of their respective student groups and teaching environments.
Blended Delivery using a ‘plan/act/reflect’ model
There are four components to “Teaching Vulnerable Learners - Journey to Success” (outlined below).
Comprising of two two-hour sessions, both online with ample participant facilitated interaction, and one week apart with self-paced learning activities in between each session. Registrants for each part will need to attend both online sessions and allow time to complete the activities prior to each session.
Aims:
- To build educators capabilities in learner centred teaching and learning
- To help educators prepare pre-accredited learners to pathway to accredited programs
- To foster Learn Local educator working together arrangements for the benefit of students
- To help educators provide student supported learning via their respective connections with local community services providers and industries and employers.

Audience
This program is for educators delivering pre-accredited vocational education programs in Learn Local providers to ensure all their students succeed and progress to further study and/or work. It is aligned to the following domains and related capabilities/learning outcomes as prescribed in the VET Practitioner Capability Framework (IBSA 2013): Teaching | Industry, Community & Collaboration
Level - Introductory (new to the topic): This session is aimed at practitioners that have a broad theoretical knowledge and practical experience of training and assessment.
