Virtual Workshop: Evaluating the Impact of Teaching to Improve Learning Outcomes
This VET Teaching Practice workshop will draw on educational theory and VET policy to promote reflective practice and build, evaluate and improve advanced training and assessment skills. Contributing to the development and modification of assessment tools to suit student needs and context while employing a range of methods to ensure validity and reliability in assessment decisions.
Description
The Victorian Skills Authority (VSA) provides funding to the VET Development Centre (VDC) to deliver workforce development training to improve the knowledge, skills and practice of VET teachers, trainers and assessors, and strengthen the learning environment, experience and outcomes for all VET learners.
This VET Teaching Practice workshop will draw on educational theory and VET policy to promote reflective practice and build advanced training and assessment skills.
These are specific professional learning programs for the Victorian Government funded vocational education sector in priority areas, as a response to the Government’s commitment to quality training outcomes.
Audience
This workshop is designed for Skills First teachers (trainers and assessors) with a Skills First 2024 VET Funding Contract and is aligned to the following domains and related capabilities/learning outcomes as prescribed in the VET Practitioner Capability Framework (IBSA 2013): Teaching | Assessment | Systems & Compliance
Learning Outcomes
This workshop enables participants to:
- Contribute to the development of assessment tools or modify existing tools to suit student needs and context.
- Employ a range of methods to ensure validity and reliability in assessment decisions.
Objectives:
- Use a range of suitable assessment methods and tools consistent with regulatory standards and requirements
- Evaluate and improve assessment.

Please note, online attendees will be required to have their cameras on during the session and actively attend/participate in the session to be eligible to receive a Certificate of Attendance and Digital Badge.
