Family Violence Program: Teaching Students from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Background
Description
This workshop will take a deep dive into what CALD is and how to identify CALD students in your class. What are the barriers that CALD students face? How do teachers build respectful relationships in the classroom? This session will provide a framework of good practice focusing on engagement, supportive learning environments and supported pathways.
Learning Outcomes
- Teachers will learn about cultural dimensions theory, values, and how to overcome common barriers.
- Teachers will learn about cross-cultural communication and to improve their interactions in the class.
- Teachers will have a better understanding of how to support CALD learners.
