The new Certificate IV TAE contains a ‘practicum’ (teaching practice) unit of competency to be undertaken in a real VET setting. The unit is an elective, and it’s possible that RTOs are a little hesitant about offering it.
This webinar explains the background to the development of the unit, and draws on examples from higher level VET teaching qualifications including the Diploma of VET, to show how the practicum can be administered. It enumerates the benefits of the elective for students and for RTOs, both those teaching the unit and those hosting students on placements.

- The reflective practice component of the practicum, and how it informs future practice
- The benefits, for all parties, of selecting a teaching practicum in the Certificate IV TAE.
