Cyber Security in the Age of AI: Protecting your training provider from external attacks, insider threats, and scams. Cyber security is now one of the biggest risks facing RTOs and TAFE providers. With AI rapidly advancing, cyber criminals are using tools like phishing, scams, and deepfakes to target student data, compliance records, and organisational systems.
This session will explore how AI is reshaping the threat landscape, highlighting real case studies of scams and insider risks, and outline practical strategies RTOs can apply immediately. It will also show how technology and AI can be used as business enablers, helping providers strengthen compliance, improve efficiency, and deliver better outcomes for learners and employers.

- How AI is supercharging cyber threats such as phishing, scams, deepfakes, and insider risks
- Real case studies, that highlight human and system vulnerabilities
- Key regulatory requirements, including the Victorian Protective Data Security Standards (VPDSS), the relationship to the 2025 RTO Standards and mandatory ransomware payment reporting
- Practical strategies for RTOs / TAFE providers to build digital literacy as well as build cyber resilience, including detection tools, password policies, staff awareness and training and backup/recovery planning
