This 30 minute VET Chat will explore who we mean by “neurodivergent educators” in vocational settings and why this matters. We’ll discuss simple, low-barrier workplace supports that colleagues can offer. Finally, we’ll share a few practical classroom strategies that benefit neurodivergent teachers.
Topics Covered
1. Who are we talking about? Neurodivergent educators in VET
- Quick, strengths-based overview (autism, ADHD, dyslexia, etc.).
- Why this matters specifically in vocational settings.
2. What helps at work? Simple, low-barrier supports
- Neuro-Affirming Workplace Strategies: a few concrete workplace adjustments (communication, meetings, workload, sensory needs).
- How managers and colleagues can be supportive without being intrusive.
3. What helps in class? Strategies that work for everyone
- 3–4 practical teaching strategies that support neurodivergent teachers and diverse learners (structure, visuals, clear routines, tech tools).
- Emphasise “good for all, essential for some”.
